Image
Source:Google Imagine what it would feel like to be recognized as the best graduating student of your school or employer of the year, or better yet, to be the very best in your field and everyone wants to be associated with you because of it? You would feel happy and fulfilled right? Whichever may be your reply, it's very possible to achieve all that, but it comes with a price; which is "an excellent spirit". An excellent spirit, just like any other phrase has more than one definition. Over the years and through history, it has been given several definitions and meanings. It could mean being outstanding, extraordinary, or doing things the very best way it could be done. Having an excellent spirit means living life above average, not mediocre, and becoming the best in every area of your life.  Beyond definitions, having an excellent spirit cuts across every sector of our lives, from academics ( we all wanted to be the best, having that euphoria of being called ...

Do not rush into that relationship (1): Being in a relationship

Image
source:Google Have you ever been in a relationship that you felt you were not supposed to be in? Or do you like a person right now and you are at a crossroads on whether to rush into the relationship or wait a while? Believe me, I know how frustrating these issues can be. I was once in a relationship that I knew I rushed into and everyone around me knew the same, and they kept telling me but I was so in love that I completely ignored my intuition and everyone's. The relationship lasted for a few months and I must say that it took me a very long time and a lot of effort to get over it. I even went into depression . Everyone loves to be loved, everyone loves to have that person they can call their own and can feel that special connection with. Because of that, many people follow the next person that offers a relationship to them, without taking their time to think it through. According to the Oxford dictionary; A relationship is how two or more people or things are connec...

Source:unsplash ‘‘ You can never rise as a mortal man by your strength, the physical is always controlled by the spiritual. As a mortal man, you must pay obeisance to a deity. An alter must speak for you. The 7 mountains of influence; family, religion, business, government, education, media, arts/entertainment are guarded by gatekeepers and except you are aided by a spirit you can never rise to the peak of any of those mountains. Your rising in life is determined by who you submit to’’ These were the words of the well-suited preacher on my TV who was preaching with so much skill and passion. I sat down watching him preach while I continued drinking my garri after an unsuccessful interview which ended with the usual phrase ‘ we will get back to you. ’ Even though I was uninterested in anything related to religion, those words struck my heart as they reflected my present condition. Lying faced down later in the evening, I allowed my imaginations to run wild. Thinking ab...

Avoid misunderstanding: Here are better ways to communicating with people

source:pexel He is proud!! I overheard my friend talking to someone over the phone. In as much as I was hurt that my friend could be saying that about me I was still not surprised. I have been tagged proud by so many. In my second year in the university, I could boast of only just a few friends, I was barely known in my department to talk more of the entire school, unlike some of my mates who had friends in all the departments. Growing up as a kid, I discovered that I was always tongue-tied and lack words to say when speaking with my peers. While a few felt I was shy, the majority thought I was proud. I would be surprised and would wish I could speak freely and hold conversations for a long time like my peers. Many times I'll get depressed thinking about my life and I just wished I could be understood. That's just a glimpse of the story of my life,  Looking at my life, I came to the understanding that we condemn and judge people in our minds and sometimes openly, r...
